Ahoy crafty friends!
I’ve always had a thing for crafting. As a youngster, I would exhaust my allowance on pretty stationery, notebooks and craft supplies. My heart still does a little skip whenever I get my hands on pretty paper, inks and—my favourite—red rubber stamps! It will be no surprise that as an adult, my principal career has been as a Graphic Designer/Creative Services Professional. I simply love to create!
Why I LOVE Stampin’ Up!
I was a Stampin’ Up! customer for many years before I joined up. When we lived in Burlington, Ontario, I was lucky to know an amazing group of ladies with whom I would get together to scrapbook and make cards. The first time I attended a Stampin’ Up! card class, I was hooked! There truly is something magical when ink hits the paper.
Stampin’ Up! is a wonderful resource for creativity! Their exclusive colours, arranged in coordinating families, perfect the look of every paper crafting project I make. Everything they offer—stamps, inks, card stock, paper, ribbon, embellishments, dies and embossing folders—are the highest quality. Stampin’ Up!’s designs are always fresh and on-trend. They stand behind all their product with unparalleled customer service.
What can I say? It’s simply the best crafting company around.
Why I joined Stampin’ Up!
A few years ago, we built a bungaloft in Penetanguishene, Ontario—a small town on the shores of Georgian Bay, two hours north of Toronto. I was invited to join a monthly Stampin’ Up! crafter’s club by a new friend, Karen—who ironically, ended up joining my Paper Crew team. Desperate to make new friends in the area, I accepted the invitation. I already knew Stampin’ Up! events were a fantastic place to craft with like-minded, craft-addicted crazies like me. When the Demonstrator who was leading our group announced her retirement, I decided to buy a Starter Kit and start my own club and teach classes. What a perfect way to make new friends in my new town plus get a discount on my crafting products—delivered right to my home, no less.
It’s been a blast being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator! I’ve made so many friends, built a great team and continue to enjoy the camaraderie Stampin’ Up! continues to offer. Stampin’ Up!’s semi-annual CentreStage and OnStage events are so much fun to attend, boasting free stamp sets, leadership and product training, plus an opportunity to network with other demonstrators.
Being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is so rewarding. I get to be a creative coach, teach and offer fresh project ideas to so many others—customers, club members, retirement home seniors, children and staff during employee appreciation days. Helping someone create that perfect project for a special occasion is so much fun. After all, creating cards, scrapbook pages, home decor and gift items is about more than just stamps and ink—it’s about sharing a part of yourself with the people you love.
The adventure continues.
I’m so lucky to have a super supportive hubby, Pete, whom I adore. We met on Match.com 20 years ago (that’s right folks … we were pioneers of the online dating scene!). He’s not only my best friend but partner in life and business.
Just over two years ago, Pete and I sold our home in Penetang and our 36-foot sailboat and bought a Tradewind 47 motor yacht named Horizon to begin some new life adventures. We now live aboard our floating home from May to October, cruising the beautiful waters of Georgian Bay, Ontario. From November to April, we are enjoying the sunshine in La Cruz, Mexico. It’s a great life.
Together, Pete and I operate a successful web development business, Creative Interface, from aboard Horizon and from our “casa” in Mexico. We develop WordPress websites/blogs and other online marketing tools for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and other clients. You can learn more about that here.
Happiness is teaching Mexican children ♥
I’m so grateful to have found joy and purpose in Mexico teaching local children English and art via rubber stamping, paper crafting and card making. I’ve grown to love my weekly classes at the Amigo’s Kids Club in La Cruz. This is such an amazing place! Founded and supported by the Amigos de La Cruz, Canadian and American expats have donated time and money to dramatically improve the lives of the people of La Cruz. I’m happy to say that Stampin’ Up!’s big clearance sale in December meant I could donate a very large supply of quality crafting supplies to the school. If you would like to donate directly to this wonderful organization, here’s a link to do so (select “Banderas Bay Charities).
One of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! is that it can meet your needs and evolve as you need it to. I no longer teach classes in person, but I’ve been known to use Skype to teach a technique or two. I am committed to supporting my Paper Crew team virtually and in person at Stampin’ Up! conventions and crops/cruises that I offer personally.
Whether I’m crafting with a team member on “the bridge” or with a new Mexican friend in La Cruz, I’m never far away from my love of stamping.
I would love to hear from you! Whether you are interested in hearing about all the delightful products Stampin’ Up has to offer or have questions about becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator or would simply like to talk shop, please get in touch.
There are good ships, and there are wood ships,
The ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships, are friendships,
And may they always be.
Fair seas and happy stamping, Leanne
